A busy early spring weekened.

Maddie and Anna went to a birthday party at Wonderland Farms last Saturday. They loved riding the ponies, feeding goats and going on a hay ride. I ran my first 5k earlier that morning. It was a lot of fun. I didn't set any land speed records but I did finish, which I consider an accomplishment. I plan on running in some more races this year. Jack didn't have such a good weekend though. We had him at the Children's Clinic both Saturday and Sunday for blood work to find out why his jaundice has not gone away. After a long few days (and nights) they have determined that he is going to be just fine.

A lazy afternoon in the Simpson house

Maddie and Anna are loving being big sisters. Jack is growing and changing every day. He moved in to his crib just a couple of days ago. He is sleeping for a few hours at a time and although I get up, change diapers and pass him over to Briar. She is doing the majority of the work and not sleeping much. She is being a trooper during the week when I am working. My dirty work comes on the weekends. Its tough but there is nothing like these first few weeks.
Anna's class did an art project to honor the Doctor himself.
Maddie and Anna love to talk to their little brother.

I think he tries to talk to them too.

A priceless moment.

Jack's busy week

Baby Jack had a busy week. He had two trips to the pediatrician, one trip to mommy's doctor, lunch out with mom and dad and a trip to Southport to meet Uncle Ashby, Aunt Tracy and cousin Griffin. I was lucky enough to stay home for a week after we came home from the hospital. It was great to get some quality family time.
Briar has her hands full!

"Come on Jack, I dare you!"

Wet slobbery kisses

Shhhhhaaaarrrrrkkkkk!!!

A visit from the Tooth Fairy

Maddie lost her first tooth last week. She was so excited and of course the Tooth Fairy came to visit and left her some cold hard cash.

Strangely enough her cousin Lilly lost the same tooth earlier that week. Weird huh??

One week old.

Today is Jack's one week old birthday. Mommy and Daddy are not sleeping a lot but Jack is. I guess that's normal it has just been a long time since we had a little one around the house. For the most part he is a very good little boy, he does not cry much at all and is a good eater. Lets hope it stays that way.

Sleepy boy

Jack......don't pick your nose.

Maddie is going to be a great baby sitter. She loves to assist with diaper changes.

More Hospital Pictures

Jack with his big sisters

Good morning Grandpa

Birthday!!

After a long week on bed rest Briar was more than ready. On Tuesday I took the day off of work and Aunt Cami came over and we cleaned the house from top to bottom. Actually Aunt Cami did a lot of the cleaning but I helped. Thanks Cam! The girls spent the night at Siggie's house and Briar and I stayed at home. We didn't sleep much, well I slept a little and Briar didn't sleep at all.

We went to the hospital at 5:30am on Wednesday morning.

Mommy and Daddy getting ready for the surgery. Briar was not feeling well at all!! She had terrible heart burn which was making her sick.

Here's Jack! Just seconds old, he came out screaming. Briar and I were so relieved and happy when we heard that first cry. What an emotional roller coaster the last couple of years have been. This moment finally put us at ease.

Valentines Day....Three days to go!

Baby Jack has been misbehaving and Briar was put on bed rest last Tuesday. Her doctors also moved her surgery up a week. She has been a trooper but is very bored, especially when the girls and I are at school and work. Maddie had the idea of painting Mommy's belly so Briar got out some faced paints and let them go to town.

One day Jack is gonna get a kick out of these pictures.

Lucy went to the beauty parlor. She looks like a Chihuahua with a big head now but we love her anyway.

Jacks Nursery and Briars Baby Shower

New Years Day. Briar and I painted polka dots.

Briar worked very hard on Jacks room. I helped a little, mostly with the painting that she couldn't do. She is very talented I must say.

Ta Da.... It turned out great. For fun we posted it on the HGTV website and got a lot of good feedback.

Tracy and Griffin came over with Nana before Briar's baby shower. This is good hair day for the little guy.

Carla Edwards, a family friend, colleague of Briar's and an all around wonderful person hosted a shower for Briar. All of our friends and family were so generous. Baby Jack racked up!

Ducky punch! Blue of course.

Maddie's talent show.

Maddie stole the show at the annual St. Mary's School Catholic School's week talent show.

4 Weeks and Counting.....

Maddie and Anna are very excited about getting a new baby brother. Well Maddie is a little more excited than Anna. She is still a bit undecided whether she wants him to come out or not. They love to feel him move around and boy he does a lot of that.

Jacks birthday is exactly one month from today and we are ready. Briar and I went on a date night and Siggie kept the girls. We figured that it may be the last one we get for a while.

The Blizzard of the Decade!

Briar and I moved to Wilmington in 2001 and we have not seen one snowflake since. It was a treat for us and it conveniently came and went with out causing too much trouble.
The girls had never seen snow before and they were very excited. Maddie told Briar that it was better than the first day at Disney World!!

Look out shes got a snowball!

Mmmm tasty!

They made a cute little snow man. It was about 12 inches tall.

Happy New Year!!!
